Where to start shooting nature photography

Nature is one of the most common and most obvious subjects for practicing photographers. But where do you start? I have a reasonably huge back garden myself so that was quite easy for me. But sometimes familiarity takes the magic out of any potential subject so it’s no surprise you’d want to go elsewhere to find inspiration.

Here are some of my personal picks:

  1. A local park
  2. A zoo
  3. Woodlands
  4. Botanical gardens
  5. The seaside

And don’t just shoot the scene; pick subjects that fascinate you, examine them up close and stalk them like a hunter.

Where do you usually find nature at its best? Drop a tip in the comments below..
